A State of Mind

Traci Harrison

I see the world through the eyes of a bird...
My vision is clear and precise
I am dancing with great confidence through the trees
Fertile with springtime buds
My body is floating
My spirit evolving
Every moment changing
Within its golden silence
I am experiencing
This Virginia spring
Exploding with youthful energy
Sucking carbon deposits
Of the mother, Blue Ridge
It is the land of milk and honey
The sweet and tender lives
Of seedlings emerging
Enlightening fertile minds and land
Soaking in pool of particles
From the kidneys in the sky
Excreting the fluids
Necessary for growth
The beauty inside
The beauty all around…
Will I find my Monticello?
Touching the history of my roots?
I am the spring
I am the dream
Contained in a flower.
