Indulged in Pies

Liu Jue

A heavy afternoon
A western restaurant
A sentimental seat
Near the window
Through the transparent glass
A look downwards
Where people’s busyness
Seems just like planets in the Milky Way
Continuously in running
Like the Leaning Tower of Pisa
Where exhaustion and danger
Silently encounter
Oblivious of
The inside me
Has long been indulged in
The pies endearing as
Remaining forever still in
This sweetness

Liu Jue, age 16, a high school student in his first grade from China, began to write poems at the age of 9 and till now has published nearly 500 lines of poetry in literary journals and reviews. Besides writing, he is passionate about music and basketball.
